Welcome 'Zapper Fans!!
Welcome to Thoroughbred Greats homage to the recently inducted Hall Of Fame Thoroughbred racehorse, Ghostzapper. Ghostzapper was a brilliantly fast horse who annihilated his competition at all distances. Early in his career he was seen as strictly a sprinter, but proved his doubters wrong when he raced many times at distance routes. He was owned by Frank Stronach, trained by Robert Frankel and ridden by jockey Javier Castellano.
Few horses have devastated their opponents in so many ways, at so many distances, and in such fast times.--Steve Haskin
Ghostzapper raced 11 times, winning 9 and placing 3rd once. He was off the board only once in his career. In his career he won $3,446,120 in earnings. He won many prestigious races including:
- Vosburgh Stakes
- Woodward Stakes
- Tom Fool Handicap
- Iseline Breeders Cup Handicap
- Met Handicap
- Breeder's Cup Classic
- Horse of the Year (2004)
- Champion Older Male (2004)
- World's Top Ranked Horse (2004)
- 2012 National Museum of Racing Hall Of Fame
